While I was preaching as a pastor for the past 7 years, I realized this subject is directly connected to a Christian¡¯s life. However, many Christian leaders have not been able to fully understand shamanism. What needs to be understood is how a great many of the religions that have entered Korea have been deeply influenced by shamanism. It is crucial that we understand shamanism¡¯s important affects on Christianity. We must not only establish a strategy of missionary work that understands this deep relationship between shamanism and Christianity, we must also conduct the work of cultural change in accordance with basic Christian values. To successfully work towards the spirit and goals of Christianity in the twenty first century, we need to better comprehend shamanism and how it may help us to establish a proper Christian theory on spirituality. If we pursue spirituality without properly understanding shamanism, we run the danger of practicing shamanistic spirituality. To do so would create confusion about Christianity.
