Korean printing still holds some surprises. We thought we knew everything of its history. However, recent research in France and Korea undertaken by Doctor Park Byeng-Sen contradicts and changes our historical referencies and assets. This book reveals us that Korea is the fatherland of metalic mobile type printing invention. Indeed, the first work in the world being printed with metalic mobile types would not be done by Gutenberg, but by Korean printers who had controlled this technique several years before. This discovery will have certainly an important impact on Korea’s position in the point of historical and cultural view, making this peninsula a new rich pole of information on the progress and technical knowledge of the South-east Asian population from Antiquity to the Modern Period.

한국의 고인쇄는 아직도 놀라움을 간직하고 있다. 우리는 한국의 고인쇄에 대해 모두 안다고 확신하고 있지만 최근 저자에 의해 한국과 프랑스에서 공동으로 진행된 연구에서도 기존의 사실에 반하는 새로운 사실들이 밝혀졌다.
이 책은 한국이 금속활자를 이용해 인쇄를 시작한 모국임을 알리고 있다. 금속활자로 처음 인쇄를 한 사람은 구텐베르크로 알려져 왔지만 사실 한국의 인쇄기술자들이 그보다 몇 해 전에 시작하였다. 이러한 발견은 고인쇄사에서 한국이 자치하고 있는 위치를 획기적으로 변화시킬 것이다. 또한 한국이 고대에서 현대에 이르기까지 서남아시아에서 문화적․역사적으로 새롭고 풍부한 정보의 중심이었음을 확인시켜 줄 것이다.
